A man has been arrested in New York for allegedly setting fire to a rental building. This happened in the Cypress Hills area back on September 26, according to CBS News.

Two adults and six children were at home at the time of the fire and managed to get out onto the roof. Neighbors and firefighters on the ground grabbed the children and the parents jumped off. The New York City Fire Department said Rafiqul Islam was charged with arson as well as attempted murder.

The department said Islam “was angry that second-floor tenants had stopped paying rent and refused to move out, so he set fire to the interior staircase” of the building in Brooklyn.

Fire chiefs say investigators had been reviewing surveillance video in the area for four weeks before spotting Islam with his hood and mask down.
