The boat crashed into a house in New York: the man on board died
A man was killed when his boat took off from the water and crashed into a house in West Fire Island (New York). The New York Post writes about it.
The boat capsized and destroyed part of the deck of a house at around 07:35 am on August 10 in Great South Bay, Suffolk County Police said in a statement.
There were two men on the boat at the time of the accident.
“I sympathize with the families and pray that this was just an accident and not a set-up,” said John Scherger, a neighbor of the affected home.
Crash survivor Christopher Cannella called 911 after a 30-foot (9.1 m) Wellcraft cantilever boat flew into the air and crashed into a house, according to Suffolk County Police.

According to police, a native of West Babylon (New York) was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The second man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released until the family is notified.
Drone distress footage shows the boat capsized and lying below the deck of the house, which is more than ten yards (9m) from the water.
Police said no one was in the house at the time of the crash.
“They had to borrow my golf cart to transport the second victim to the other side of the island,” Scherger said. “It was a bit windy, but the twin-engine boat looked really seaworthy.”
Authorities are still investigating who was driving the boat and what caused the accident.
Police said the men went fishing before dawn on August 10, although it is not known exactly what time they left or where they came from.
According to police, at the time of the crash, the ship was moving west along the canal. The Islip Island Fire Department said the ship was moving at high speed.
Police said rescuers had to walk about 100 yards (91 m) through the water to reach the island, as the channel is too shallow for a boat to pass.
According to the police, the boat really took off into the air. Drone images show lawn furniture strewn across the terrace of the home, with the boat on its side near the water.
The extent of the damage is also unclear.
Suffolk County Police detectives are investigating.
