New Yorkers are invited to run up the 1,576 steps of the Empire State Building
It’s time to start preparing for the 2023 Empire State Building Run-Up, which this year will take place on October 4 at 8:00 p.m. Just like last year, approximately 150 runners will climb the 1,576 steps to the 86th floor of the iconic building, according to reports. Time Out.
The obvious feat of the athletes has become an integral part of the city’s cultural calendar. Competitors are constantly trying to beat the men’s course record of 9 minutes and 33 seconds, set by Australian Paul Craik in 2003, and the women’s course record of 11 minutes and 23 seconds, set by Austrian Andrea Mayr in 2006.
Considering that the course is 320 vertical meters long, we have to admit that we admire any runner who can complete the distance in a certain amount of time.
If you don’t even want to think about physical activity, you might just want to enjoy the view of the Empire State Building, home to a huge new Starbucks and a full-service bar and restaurant.
