New York Airport to host exhibitions and live performances
Soon you will be able to attend a free pre-boarding performance at JFK International Airport. JFKIAT, the operator of Terminal 4 at the airport, has announced that it will showcase curated installations, performances and exhibits throughout the airport throughout the year to show travelers what New York really is like. The new program was developed in partnership with the Museum of the City of New York (MCNY), Delta Air Lines, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and the Terminal 4 airline consortium.
The initiative will officially kick off with a first photo exhibition called New York Now: Home at MCNY and a digital installation of the same name featuring artists exploring Queens-related themes.

According to the official press release, “Each piece demonstrates the meaning of ‘home’ for the faces it depicts; it captures multiple perspectives as diverse as the city itself and invites viewers to interact with the city.”
Notable artists behind the 15 photographs currently featured include Filipino Xaiza Cruz Bakani, whose work documents the immigrant’s journey; Elias Williams, who works to preserve the identity of the city’s historically black communities; Maureen Drennan, whose photographs explore “the delicate balance between society and the environment.”
So far, the only plans are a series of live performances this summer and a gallery with photos of the iconic areas of New York.
Now a trip to the airport is more than just boarding a flight.
