On the morning of July 23, a group of “rampant” migrants hurled objects at passers-by in Manhattan, according to police and witnesses. The hooligans did not stop there, they beat up two men who tried to intervene. They threw one of them through the glass door of an apartment building. The New York Post reported that the mayhem began shortly before 9:45 a.m. in Harlem when police received word that pedestrians had been attacked by migrants.
Law enforcement and witnesses said the suspects are migrants living in a former prison that has been converted into a shelter for asylum seekers in Central Park North. They started throwing various objects at passers-by not far from the shelter.
A 35-year-old man who left his apartment to try to restore order was beaten by hooligans. Then he was pushed out through a glass door, he severely cut his hand with shrapnel. Medics put a tourniquet on his arm and took him to Mount Sinai Hospital in a stable condition.
A 41-year-old man who tried to intervene and reason with the hooligans was also beaten. He received minor injuries. He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan in stable condition.
One of the three offenders was arrested and released with a criminal warrant for hooliganism. The other two suspects fled on scooters, the sources said.

Consequences of an endless stream of migrants
A security guard working nearby said he saw a fight between the migrants and what police called a “caring citizen.” The man was chased down the street by several migrant men until they were near the glass door of a six-story apartment building, he said.
“He must have been trying to protect himself,” the guard said. “Instead, they pushed him into the glass and pulled him out when he tried to escape.” According to the police report, the victim flew “through a glass door, resulting in serious cuts.”
A worker who cleaned up broken glass Sunday afternoon said he was annoyed by the riots coming from the shelter.
“Everything was fine until this shelter came along,” the janitor said. “The police are coming, but that’s not enough.”
The manager of a nearby building, who asked to remain anonymous, said the shelter was not safe enough.
“They don’t control their residents,” he said. “There is no one to complain to. They (migrants) throw garbage on our territory, and we pay fines. There is no one to coordinate their actions. Everyone says, “Call the mayor.”
