JetBlue plane flips onto its tail as passengers disembark at New York airport
A JetBlue passenger plane lost its balance and capsized as if on a see-saw while unloading on Sunday, October 22, at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, CNN reports.
“Upon landing, due to weight and balance shifts during unloading, the tail of the aircraft was pulled back, causing the nose of the aircraft to go up and eventually back down,” JetBlue Airways said no one was injured in the incident. .
Video footage posted online showed the plane’s nose in the air and the nose landing gear dangling as the plane parked near the jet bridge. At least one open cargo door is visible at the front of the aircraft.
JetBlue is “looking into the incident” and the plane will be inspected before flying again, the airline said. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport, said the incident did not disrupt any other operations at JFK.
