Carvel soft ice cream will be distributed free of charge in New York: where and when

August is a month that is hotter than a hellish cauldron, so we are ready to accept any salvation from this painful heat, especially when it comes to soft ice cream. And even more so if it’s free. According to TimeOut, the legendary ice cream chain Carvel has prepared gifts for the National Soft Ice Cream Day.

Carvel is the first ice cream retailer in the United States. The company is a leading supplier of premium soft ice cream and handmade ice cream, as well as signature cakes with the legendary Fudge the Whale and Cookie the Cat.

Their story began on Memorial Day weekend in 1934. When Tom Carvel’s ice cream truck had a flat tire, he stopped and began selling slightly thawed ice cream. Much to his surprise, people bought soft ice cream with more enthusiasm than traditional ice cream.

In honor of National Soft Ice Cream Day on Saturday, August 19, and in honor of the brand’s 90th anniversary, Carvel will be giving away thousands of free servings of soft ice cream at locations across New York City.

In honor of the holiday, Carvel customers across the country will be able to get a second serving of ice cream for free. The promotion is valid for only one day – August 19. If you want to enjoy the treat on your own and not give anyone a second serving, you can grab a double glass of ice cream from August 18 to 20 (while supplies last). Please note that this offer cannot be combined with other discounts, coupons or promotions.

New Yorkers are more fortunate, because the city will host all kinds of events in honor of the holiday:

• On Thursday, August 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Carvel will take over the observation deck of the Empire State Building and distribute soft ice cream and free branded merchandise to everyone.
• On Friday, August 18th, Carvel’s signature ice cream machine will be giving away free original soft serve ice cream throughout New York City. What sets the Carvel van apart from all other ice cream vans is the presence on board of the legendary Fiji whale. Keep an eye on the location of the van on the pages Twitter and Instagram Carvel.
• On Sunday, August 20, the legendary Carvel will operate the NYC Ferry on the East River route starting at 11:55 a.m. Simply purchase a regular NYC Ferry ticket to participate, but remember that boarding, like ice cream, is on a first come, first serve basis.
