A man fell off the Manhattan Bridge and died while trying to escape from the scene of the accident

A 25-year-old man jumped from the Manhattan Bridge while trying to escape from the scene of the accident in the early hours of August 8. He died, according to NewYorkPost.

A man was involved in a two-car accident at the lower level of the span around 1:45 a.m.

According to police, the 25-year-old driver crashed into a white Toyota Uber, then got out of the car and tried to climb over a metal beam, reports the Independent.

The pedestrian found the man unconscious and seriously injured on Forsyth streets on the Lower East Side, police said.

He was taken to the NewYork-Presbyterian Lower Manhattan Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Investigators suspect the man was drunk before the accident and fled to avoid arrest for drunk driving, according to a police source.

The woman, who was an Uber passenger, was also taken to the same hospital for minor injuries, Patch said. The Uber driver complained of pain but did not go to the hospital, authorities said.
