In honor of our new exhibition, Changing the Face of Democracy: Shirley Chisolm at 100, this installment of Uptown Bounce highlights Caribbean culture! Chisholm was of Caribbean descent, spending years of her childhood in Barbados where her family was from.
Now, we're celebrating the many Caribbean communities of New York City with our summer block party! DJ Taela Naomi will be spinning dancehall, soca, afrobeats, and more!
