Join us for a screening of The Last Days of Disco (Whit Stillman, 1998, 113 min). The film is a cleverly comic look at the early 1980s Manhattan club scene from the vantage point of the late Nineties. At the center of the film’s group of party girls are the icy Charlotte (Kate Beckinsale) and the demure Alice (Chloë Sevigny), by day toiling as publishing house assistants and by night looking for romance and entertainment at a Studio 54-like club. Brimming with director Whit Stillman’s signature dry humor, The Last Days of Disco is an affectionate yet unsentimental look at the end of an era.

This screening is the 1990s installment of our year-long series, New York on Film: Decade by Decade, programmed by Jessica Green. The series accompanies the Museum's centennial exhibition, This Is New York: 100 Years of the City in Art and Pop Culture.
